Squamish, September 23rd, 2009 – You could be 100 days away from becoming a better version of yourself and this September 23rd, which marks the centennial mark in days until the end of 2009 and this decade. Hosted by
Reach Physio Solutions, the event helps people from all walks of life make healthier choices through a 13-week life-changing program filled with insightful speakers, themed events, and prizes.
Making healthy choices is easy, but often people make goals and fail to achieve them. “We call this the plateau effect,” says event coordinator and Reach Physio therapist
Sue Shalanski “With the 100 day challenge we give people a clear time frame in which they need to attain their goals, and with all the events, seminars and even a virtual community of people trying to reach their own goals posting their experience in a supportive environment, people will not only reach their goals but surpass them.”
Participants can choose from a plethora of personal choices promoting wellness including working out 3 times a week, decreasing their consumption of alcohol, adopting a healthier eating plan, learning to meditate, or even lowering their blood cholesterol. The program has been designed to take you through the goal-setting process, then on to creating a systematic, structured plan, followed by learning how to cope with setbacks or “slip-ups” and how to sustain the changes in the longer term. All the tools are geared towards creating new lasting health habits with a strong support group to allow participants to reach their goals before year’s end.
The event brings together a number of local wellness providers who offer unique & enhancing services that are available to members of the 100 Day Challenge. There’s a wide array of additional services being offered including a group coaching program called “My Best Life” by Vancouver-based motivational speaker
Lara Williams, “Wholeness Sessions” with
Marissa Schiesser a Squamish-based Certified Nutrition Practitioner and a number of fitness services from
Erica Otto, owner of Violet Quartz Wellness to name a few. Included in the program are daily e-mail messages from
Jeff Thompson to keep participants focused and on track; a weekly themed newsletters, an open peer chat group connecting all participants, and 6 months of access to an online exercise/health tracking program called “Fitness Journal.”
